Every year, International Migrants Day on 18th December serves as a global reminder of the immense challenges faced by migrant communities and their vital contributions to society. Observed since its establishment by the United Nations in 2000, this day is an opportunity to reflect on the plight of migrants and affirm our shared responsibility to protect their rights and dignity.

Across the world, millions embark on migration journeys in search of safety, stability, and a better future. Whether fleeing conflict, economic hardship, or climate crises, migrants often face difficult journeys and harsh living conditions. Many families are displaced from their homes, uncertain of what the future holds, and struggle to access basic needs like food, healthcare, and education.

In regions like Lebanon and Jordan, migration is a particularly pressing issue, with large populations of refugees and migrants—many of whom have fled from neighbouring countries in turmoil. These communities often face poverty, discrimination, and limited access to essential resources, making targeted support critical to their survival.

How UKC4C Supports Refugee Families and Children

Our mission at UK Care for Children (UKC4C) is to support vulnerable refugee families, particularly children. In Lebanon and Jordan, where the effects of displacement are deeply felt, we work to deliver immediate relief and long-term opportunities for those in need.

Through our initiatives, including the Child Sponsorship Programme, UKC4C offers:

  • Access to Education: Ensuring children can attend school and build brighter futures despite their displacement.
  • Emergency Relief: Providing food, clean water, clothing, and other essential supplies to families in crisis.
  • Healthcare Access: Delivering medical care to children and families who would otherwise go without.
  • Physiotherapy Support: Bringing accessible and affordable rehabilitation services to disabled refugees.
  • Vocational Training: Equipping older children and adults with skills to improve their livelihoods.

On this International Migrants Day, you can stand with migrant families and children to help them build a better future. Whether by sponsoring a child, donating to our emergency relief programs, or spreading awareness, your actions can have a profound impact.

How You Can Help:

  • Sponsor a Child: Your monthly support of £25 can provide essentials like education, healthcare, and school supplies.
  • Contribute to Relief Efforts: Make a one-time donation to deliver critical aid to needy refugee families.
  • Learn and Advocate: Share this blog to inspire others to join in creating change.
